Secondary Education Industrial Technology Students Receive Scholarships

At its 80th annual convention and student competition on May 7 -10, the Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society awarded scholarships to students interested in pursuing a professional career as an Industrial Education, Technology Education or Career and Technical Education teacher.

To qualify for consideration, industrial technology education students must be recommended by an industrial education professor, obtain a letter of support from a MITES member, and be maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in their major.

The amount of scholarship money awarded depends on a student’s grade level.  The levels of funds awarded are as follows: Freshman - $500, Sophomore - $750, Junior - $1,000 and Senior - $1,500.

Of the seven students throughout the State receiving scholarships, three are enrolled in the SEIT teacher education program at Northern Michigan University.  The three young men pictured below are deserving recipients as they own grade point averages well above the 3.0 minimum required and consistently make the Dean’s List.  Congratulations to Michael, Gary and Andrew!
