Bio…
My name is Gary G. Herschell Jr. and I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. I’m currently a junior at Northern Michigan University in the Industrial Technology Education Program. I grew an interest in Industrial Technology by being exposed to many activities through my father that involved technical skills and problem solving. Such activities as welding, construction, auto mechanics and carpentry became something that I grew to know, love and respect. Upon graduating from Sault Area High School and Career Center, I decided to take my knowledge that I had received and share and encourage others to do the same as my father and teachers did with me.
While being interested in Industrial classes I became involved with the MITES (Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society) program starting in the seventh grade. MITES is an excellent program for young children to become involved in. MITES holds a state wide competition for children to have their projects compete with others throughout Michigan. This encourages kids to do well, as well as becoming more cultured by seeing what other students have been doing, and maybe gain an idea or two. My success in the Industrial program has been greatly increased due to MITES support, as well by the support of my teachers who are involved with it as well.
