1. Turn on the ceiling LCD projector. 2. Power up your laptop. 3. Connect your laptop to the ceiling projector using the thick multi-pin computer cable that is coming out of the instructor station. Look for the matching / complimenting port on your laptop that corresponds with the end of the computer cable and be careful to insert it carefully so the somewhat delicate pins do not get crushed. 4. Make sure the volume on your laptop is all the way up. 5. Press the FN & F7 keys on your laptop’s keyboard at the same time. A black window appears with presentation settings. Choose the one called “Presentation on projector and thinkpad (XGA 1024 by 768)” 6. Make sure the ceiling projector is set to input/source “RGB 1”. Point the ceiling projector’s remote control at the projector and press the RGB button until “RGB 1” is displayed on the screen. 7. Turn on audio amplifier and choose the source “laptop”. Make sure the volume is only at the halfway point so the students will not be startled by the volume being too loud. 8. Insert DVD into laptop’s DVD tray. 9. When playing DVDs in your NMU ThinkPad, first try to play them with Windows Media Player. If you end up with a black screen, try InterVideo WinDVD. Windows Media Player plays commercially-pressed DVDs well. InterVideo WinDVD plays DVD-R discs well.
Until fixes are found, DVD-Rs will not play on Windows Media Player, nor
will commercially-produced DVDs play on InterVideo WinDVD without extra
tweaking.
