Sears Tower demolition

1. One last look at the Sears Tower before demolition.  You can see I have threaded the cables through the base of the tower which will be pulled down by the robots with human assistance.  If all goes well the tower should implode creating a tidy heap in the middle of the Hedgecock building's main concourse.  Adjacent office windows were covered as an added precautionary measure.

2.  The crowd gathers.

3.  Setting up one of the four robots that will aid in the taking the Sears Tower down.

4.  Here's a bird's eye view - same scene.

5.  We're wearing hard hats JUST IN CASE!

6.  Setting up yet another of the four robots.

7.  Just about ready for the count down.

8.  It starts to crumble.

9.  The tower fell in stages creating a "cascading waterfall effect" as it was described to me.

10.  Just as I had hoped... a nice tidy heap in the middle of the floor!

11.  My dear friend Kristy Brzezinski took this KEWL closeup of the debris.

12.  This antenna is still intact!

13. My little buddy Dustin asked me to do a snow angel on the pile.  It didn't work so well!

14.  My dear friends Mark Adam Slade and Cara Jo Miller help with the clean up.  Thanks guys!!!  Cara is the mastermind behind the dynamic website that will replace this one (hopefully over break).  If you look to the severe right, you can see Andrew Bealieau who constructed the antennae out of PVC, knitting needles, wire, and LED's.

15.  Mark and Kristy wrote my name in Jenga blocks.  GREAT photo op!
