Rockefeller Center demolition

1. Marcus (Archives) had been the most vocal about wanting to topple the Jenga structure so Bryant gave him the first opportunity to destroy!  Wow - he kicked the first small tower with a vengeance!

2. After informing the participants not to remove blocks from above the halfway point, Bryant took the first block off.

3.  Chris (Academic Computing) was VERY careful taking off the third block - little did he know hundreds of blocks later the structure would still be standing!  Liz (Head of Public Services) had to be reminded NOT to take blocks from above the halfway point.  You're looking for Harry Who books?  Just teasing, Liz!

    4.  NMU students turn into savages!

5.  Which block next?

6.  Let's all have a go!

7.  Someone finally realized the front hadn't been affected.

8.  Ok - we're getting close now.  It's starting to look pretty ugly.

9.  Here's a close look at the guts just before the tower collapsed.  Bye-bye my friend.  Sniffle, sniffle.  Okay - I'm over it - onto my next project - hehehe!!!

10.  Oh the bloodless carnage!

11.  Darlene (Dean of AIS) wants this mess cleaned up NOW!  Just kidding - she was having fun just like the rest of us!

    12.  Bryant was concerned he didn't have enough giant Tupperware to contain the nearly 12,000 Jenga blocks.  What do you think, Carolyn (Head of Media Services)?

13.  Bryant was not only impressed with the number of observers and participants who turned out, but also how many people stayed to pick up.  With so many to help out, we had everything in the bins within mere minutes!  Thanks, crew!

    14.  Yes, Marcus - you kick up - you pick up!

15.  Yes sir, yes sir, ten bins full!  I brought just enough plastic containers.  Whew!

16.  Here's a preview of what Bryant's next project will be (if invited to do so) - "The Leaning Tower of Jenga".  It will come complete with a falling Newton apple and a rather large protractor to measure its lean to match the real tower's.  The Jenga tower will be a hollow cylinder just like the one in Pisa, Italia.

"Gravity as glue" will always be Bryant's motto.
